Kari's Kave: Wacky Wednesday!

Kids!!!! They aren't any easier now than they were at the beginning!!!!

Oh my.....
Let's just say my Wednesday isn't starting out so well.
First, I'm out of coffee!!!!! Then my youngest son forgot his cleats at the middle school yesterday where he has football practice. Problem is, he goes to the junior high school. And his game is at the junior high today. Grrrr, that means I have to pick him up from school and bring him to the middle school and beg someone to open the mud room for him. Then we have to race back to the junior high to make his game. He's in total freak out mode, and his brother don't help as they say, "Oh, dude, good luck with that. They won't let you back in the mud room once the coaches are gone." I could kill them. They are so NOT helping right now. So youngest son is like, "Great. My last game of the season and I won't get to play." Ugh. I had to convince him to let me pick him up and at least try to get his cleats. There has to be someone at that school other than the coaches who have a flipping key!!!!
After a huge struggle, I finally get them off to school only to have oldest child who just drove himself to school tell me he's riding on fumes so I need to fill the tank up when I get home. (that's if he doesn't run out of gas somewhere, which would be my luck today!) And not to mention, um hello, I will be busy picking up youngest and getting cleats and attending a game in the cold temps and pelting rain we are supposed to get today! (oh, joy!)
Now it's time to wake up Diva and get her in the shower (quickly) as I still have to get ready for the stupid dentist. Then before I pick up son number 3, I still have errands to run, phone calls to make, and hello...dinner in there somewhere! Then the game (if we're successful with the cleats) and then homework, etc, etc, etc!
And I'm supposed to write when????
Honestly, some days I just wonder how we are supposed to be everything to everyone every day! That's life I guess. Most days I love it...today, not so much!
How do you cope with it all? When do you write? What kinds of distractions throw you off your game? Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh, Kari, I feel your pain. I can't tell you how many times my son forgets things. Last week, they were practicing in the gym because of the rain, so he texts me from school (yes, he does this a lot!) to bring his shoes, but doesn't say which ones. I keep texting him back, fearing that the teacher will catch him and I'll be chewed out, but he doesn't answer. I finally load up the three pair I think might be the right ones in a trash bag (which is where they belong because they stink) and rush to school. I'm getting out of the car looking like a lost Santa with a giant bag when he texts me "nevermind, he doesn't need them." So I get the Grrr....

But, you gotta love 'em! One day they'll move out of the house and we'll be weeping because our babies are gone.

Wow! I'll quit whining now because I am blogging at three different places today. I had forgotten how much fun teenagers could be, especially when hubby travels and you get the whole kit and kaboodle by yourself.

In my case, a day like this would probably turn out to be a productive writing day since I do my best work under pressure. It's the slow days that leave me wordless!!

Great post, Kari and I love the pictures of your kids "before" and "after."

I get terribly distracted, and I'm not disciplined, so it can really be a problem for me. If I didn't have these writing bursts where I write like an insane woman, I'd be sunk. I think it might be shocking how little time writers with kids at home actually have to write. I remember a writer on one of my loops said after family and home stuff, she has one hour per day to write.

And I forgot to add that your kids are so cute!!

Phew, I am back. No cavities...yay!
But...my internet was down right after this post this morning, and Diva missed the bus, and I was late for dentist.

But I also got ahold of the coach who said the mud room will be open cuz he will be there for 10 minutes, so no worries (as long as we make those 10 minutes...haha yeah right!).

But...I have cofee now and I repeat, no cavities.

Screw the rest of my errands, I'm sitting down with my coffee and my laptop and having some "me" time, dammit, before I have to run again!

PS...thanks ladies! I think my kids are cute, too...when I don't want to kill them!

I'm on second cup of jo, so maybe I won't kill them now...just ground them for like :-)

Just look at the bright side Kari-no cavities and you have coffee. Now go back to bed, get up and start the day all over again

LOL Lindsay, I only wish I could...

But...I have less than 2 hours before I have to pick up youngest son and get those damn cleats :-)

Hey...don't forget to breathe in there somewhere. OMG, my head hurts and I had a LARGE coffee on my way to work today! Because my Wed. hasn't been any better, with dog waking me up beginning at 4 a.m. until 5;15 when i finally gave in, but got caught up in filling out ski club paperwork and having to print the teenie tiny picts for their i.d. cards, late getting into shower, had to straighten Diva's hair *forget my own I went curly today* no time for breakfast, didn't make my lunch, busy as hell and no time for lunch. I'M riding on fumes of coffee and a bagel and would KILL for some chocolate right now...just sayin. :-)

Thank GOD I have a vacation day tomorrow because I am now 24 pages behind schedule. And Anita, I'm one of those people that by the time I get done with work and family has about 1.5 hrs to write before the brain shuts down for the night. It sucks. I used to be a late night writer, not anymore - my job is just too hectic and so is the schedule my kids are on.

In my perfect world, I would get 1 long weekend a month as a writing retreat. 3 days straight of writing, that's all I ask.

And as I remind my hubby - we need to not kill the children because one day they will be taking care of us, and payback is a you-know-what!

Good luck at the game tonight!!!!

I have so many distraction. My husband and I have six kids combined, four of which are teenagers. I work full time as an attorney & have a new puppy who refuses to be housebroken. I get where you are coming from.

I am a new follower. How could I possibly pass up a blog with the name Mysteries & Margaritas? I mean they are my two favorite things.

Very nice to meet you.
