We drove in on Thursday (you don't even want to know about the car ride! Talk about fun :-) and we used that day as a writer's retreat. Our room was awesome, and the window seat was more like a mini-room, so we named it the BC playpen!
Since this was our first mystery conference, we each took on an alias. I was Natasia, Barbie was Angelina, and Danielle was Svetlana. Trust me, people, we stayed in character the whole night :-)
When we were done playing in the playpen, we filled it with yummy food and drinks. Comfort clothes, comfort food, and great company. It doesn't get any better than that! Well, okay, it did get pretty fun when the rest of the BC gang showed up. It was great finally putting some faces to the names we've come to know so well. And meeting new people along the way made it even better.

And then something happened to Natasia, Svetlana and Angelina....Scooby Doo and the gang took over their bodies and possessed them. For surely we were all possessed to act like that! Zoinks! Like I totally make the ugliest man alive! But we had so much fun, it was totally worth it. We won our category in the Sleuths, Spies and Private Eyes contest by hamming it up and probably scarring Barry Eisler and Nancy Pickard for life :-) Those poor judges!
All in all, it was a great conference and we had a blast! So much so I feel another road trip coming on. Which one will we crash next? It's a mystery. Guess you'll just have to wait and see. You never know who we might be disguised as, but if you see some wild and crazy women, chances are it's us...

Oh boy, what a weekend. So tell me, what have you done that's wild and crazy and fun lately?
LOVE IT! Oh my gosh, you guys know how to have fun. I wish I had been there. At least I have your pictures and stories so it's kind of like being there.
We do like to have fun :-)
I'm sure we'll hit another conference together soon, Anita!
I would have loved to have seen you guys Scooby Dooby Doing. What award did Pete win?
It was a riot, Marilyn.
And Pete was a finalist for the Al Blanchard Award.
Take it from someone who witnessed this up close an personal--Kari is one ugly dude. Thank heavens, she's a beautiful lady!!
Now back to work for both us --or as they say in that great Christmas song--two deadlines looming and a partridge....
NO kidding, Liz! Scary deadlines!!!
I finished up everything else I was doing and am now going to go into my writing cave like a mad woman. 3 1/2 months to write Trouble in the Tarot and I haven't even started!
And I'm headed to NYC this weekend with my hubby for some alone time. I plan to plot in the car for 4 hours down, then play all weekend, and then plot on the way back on Sunday. Then Monday morning I am going to dive in!
Wish me luck :-)
You were definitely a group of wild and crazy ladies. As an attendee and witness to your crazieness I worry about not only you three but the next conference you attend.
But, it was fun and congrats to Pete for finalling in the contest.
I plead the 5th, Lindsay :-)
