Barbie's Bunkhouse: Fall Back to Tuesday

Happy Tuesday and Welcome my new blog day at the bunkhouse! Actually, I'd rather be bunking in. Boy how I hate the week it takes to adjust when we set the clocks back (or ahead too, for that matter!) I'm a morning person for sure but when I spring out of bed at 4am like a jackrabbit on crack....that's just wrong!! No one should be wide awake at 4am!

So I toss and turn, try to relax and fall back to sleep. But I never really do. So over the next hour I peek at the clock to find that every time I do so, only 4 mins have passed. ugh! Are you kidding me?? Of course by the time I finally do fall back into a nice sleep, I hear my daughter get up to get ready for school, the dog thumping through the halls after her, and realize I've overslept!!! I should have just bit the bullet and gotten up early. I could have written a couple pages - although my dear hubby would have said "go down on the treadmill and get your workout in if you're that awake."

No one should be exercising at 4am either.

So I'm declaring right now, to use this time change to my benefit until the body/mind decide to accept it. I love the quiet of the house in the morning anyway, so why not start to channel my creativity over a cup of coffee? Every little bit helps us get closer to "the end", right? I've begun to realize the importance of using the small bits of time I get for writing (like I used to do, waaay back when!) because a good, solid chunk of quality time isn't a reality right now. It all adds it.

Anyone else "feeling the change"? What are you doing in the wee hours of the morning? Or are you lucky enough to go back to sleep? Any late night writers having the opposite problem?

Barbie Jo, I had to laugh reading your post. I am such a morning person. A neighbor called today at 6:15! knowing I was at my computer. I'm ready for lunch by 8 am. I've discovered that the early hours are so quiet, no phone, my dogs don't even want me to turn on the lights and my dear husband is usually snoring--or getting ready for yet again another trip. I've stopped fighting it. It just is.

Yikes! Did this really post twice? My apologies if so. See, maybe sleep is a good thing.

I'm like you--up at 4 am staring at the clock and down by 9:30pm. I guess we're in daylight savings lag.

And it would be nice if I could use that time to write, but I refer you to yesterday's post and my "I am a crisis junkie" confession. I'm reading blogs!!

Cassy you made me laugh with your neighbor calling at 6:15. I once called my mother at 5:30am while I was out Black Friday shopping because she was the only other person I knew who'd be up that early!! And I'm blaming the double posting on your excitement of being up early!! LOL.

Liz I find I start to crash and burn around 8pm IF I'm sitting still. Which I why if I really want to watch a movie, I need to crochet. I can read or work on the computer and I'm fine usually until 10pm. But to sit still and stare at a TV...nope. Gone in 60 seconds (Also one of my favorite movies!)

Somehow I have a feeling I will be calling your "crisis junkie" hotline if/when I EVER hear back on my cozies!!!!! :P

for now I will just drag my notebook everywhere like I used to do and jot down chapter/scene ideas.

I'm not a morning person, but this year my daughter goes to school earlier, so I have to get her up super early to do her hair and all that fun stuff. Sometimes I get her up and crawl back into bed, but if I've had any decent amount of sleep, I'll go to the computer, and it's surprising how much I get done. Maybe there's a morning person hiding inside me.

My schedule is so crazy, the time change doesn't bother me. Although I do get sleepy earlier. That's a good thing.
