Kari's Kave: My Wall of Fame

My Wall of Fame!

How do you find inspiration?

There are just some days that it's hard to find the inspiration to do everything we as authors do. Work on our work in progress so we can meet our deadlines. Promote the books we already have out. Do edits, and copy edits, and page proofs on our books that are in the lineup waiting to come out. And yet...still come up with new ideas for future books.

I've said it a million times, but it's still the truth. It's hard as hell to get published, and even harder to stay published.

Every time I get discouraged, I simply turn around and look at all that I've accomplished, and then yell at myself to stop beating myself up. I've written 3 cozy mysteries for Berkley Prime Crime, the third one due out in March, with a fourth and fifth on the way. I self pubbed 2 teen superhero stories, the third one plotted and started, and slated to be finished this year. I've self pubbed 3 romances, with a fourth plotted and started and slated to be finished this year. I've also self pubbed one novella and one short story.

Sometimes I have so many goals and so many different things I want to accomplish, it gets overwhelming knowing where to start and what to work on right now.

This summer through me for a loop with my oldest of four children getting ready to make the biggest decision of his life...what college to go to and what lacrosse team to commit to. It's been insane...much more work than I had imagined. Now that we are almost over the hump with that chore, I need to refocus on myself. It's time to pull out my calendar and figure out exactly what to work on every day. I need organization in my life. Without it, I feel like I'm floundering a bit.

So.....today I am going to clean off my desk, pull out my calendar, and get organized. What's on your schedule for the day? Inquiring minds want to know.

PS my wall of fame is right behind my desk...I'd show the rest of my office, but like I said, it's a mess!

Eeeek...okay back to organization.

What's with all of you?

Wow! That is quite a visual of all your accomplishments, Kari. You have really been busy. I have just started the second book of my ghost series and then I have to finish cozy #4. After that, who knows?

My inspiration is to get a good start so that I won't feel guilty over the holidays when I'm enjoying my family.

Yay, I can't wait for your ghost series!

And yeah, don't even remind how close the holidays are. Scary how much I have to do before then.
