Liz's Lair: Welcome Paranormal Author, Kelly Lee

Please help me welcome my friend and fellow author Kelly Lee. Take it away, Kelly.

First, let me say thank you, Liz, for having me today!

Second, to everyone, Happy Veteran's Day!

My husband has been in the Army Reserves for ten years now, so patriotic holidays get a little more play in our home than some. But no matter your political beliefs or affiliation, it's important to appreciate the sacrifices our military service members make both on the battlefield, and personally. When deployed, both men and women leave their families, and make their uniquely valuable contribution.

After one of my husband's particularly tough deployments, my then three-year-old daughter wore her dad's dog tags around for days at a time as her "necklace". I'd have to sneak them off of her while she slept, because she refused to take them off.

I first began writing seriously when my husband was deployed, simply because I had time on my hands after my daughter went to bed at night. I'm an escapist, so when I wasn't tucked into bed reading, I was dreaming up characters of my own. Hence, the humble beginning of the Four Realms Series was born.

If you like Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance, I hope you'll love Battle Heat. It's the 2nd book in the Four Realms Series, and it's chock full of funny, sarcastic dialogue, action, suspense, and some seriously steamy love scenes!

Here's a short little blurb:

Holly Okeanos is alone. Descended of a defeated race whose adult males were either killed or imprisoned, she is the daughter of the last Titan royalty left alive since the Great War. Thousands of years have passed, but Holly refuses to fear the Gods who conquered them, a warrior to her core. Now a prisoner to the God of War, she is torn between loyalty to her race and the overpowering attraction she feels toward the fearsome man who led the bloody battles that destroyed them all.

Kelly,I don't come from a military family but I've had to accept "as a mom" this is the road my oldest will be taking when he goes to college next fall. He's never waivered and it's taking me 2 years to understand and make him realize I support him 100%, but as a mom its scary as hell. I can't even imagine being the spouse at home with the children while your husband/wife is away and focused on their job. But I've put on my big girl pants, stood back and looked at the amazing young man he's become and I couldn't be more proud of his choice and his future plans.

What a way for you to develop an awesome series while keeping your mind from going crazy with worry! and your daughter wearing his dogtags is such a precious picture!

I love paranormal anything and I can't wait to check this out! And I love the tattoo on him! it's very fantasy'ish...and sexy! :-)

Barbie Jo, thanks for your comment, and thanks to your son for his commitment to our country. I struggle so often between warring feelings. I'm so proud of his service, but yet selfishly want him to quit some days because of my worries. In the end, we support the ones we love, don't we? Hugs to all.

SO cute that your daughter wore her daddy's dog tags. And a great "how I started writing" story to boot! (Get it? TO BOOT okay maybe I only think it's funny...)
